  Erdogan on Israel and the 9th of Av

  I stopped posting updates to our Ezekiel prophecy page awhile ago. It didn't seem necessary since news concerning the Ezekiel 38 war became readily available by watching the news in the Middle East. Then came October 7. That wasn't in the Bible. Not every detail of world events on the path from A to B is laid out in front us.

   

  Many times God warns but there is human error.

   

  We are learning that too in these days. Now there is another warning looming over Israel.

   

  I had to write about this news event because I think it is another step in the ideaology leading up to Ezekiel's prophetic war. For the first time President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey has said he would invade Israel. This news wouldn't get a Christian's attention if it came from the mouth of the president of Zimbabwe. But from the president of Turkey, one of the nations in the Ezekiel coalition against Israel? You betcha.

   

  Erdoğan said, " 'Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we might do similar to them," he said, according to a Reuters report.' " 

   

  So what did he do in Karabakh in 2020? Well at first he denied participation. But Turkey provided Azerbaijan with drones, ground forces and they conducted air strikes with F-16s. 

   

  In 2020 he also sent troops to Libya including troops from the Syrian National Army which he supports. Military equipment like drones, etc. was also sent. I think it is worth noting that the US accuses Turkey of enlisting children as soldiers.  It says something of his character.

   

  So the reason he entered these countries was war. It wasn't advertised quite like Iran gets in front of the microphone to announce its exploits. But Erdoğan is declaring his involvements and goal now. He realizes the political atmosphere allows him to be bolder, so he is.

   

  Then there is claim made by Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu that the Biden Administration is withholding promised military equipment to support Israel. There is no reason to doubt Netanyahu since Biden said he wanted to stop supplying Israel and senators like  Tom Cotton confirmed Biden was delaying shipments. The Bible never mentions a country helping Israel, but it is hard to imagine that would be the United States. Lately, however, it's not the United States I thought I knew. But God knew, and He told Ezekiel.

   

  If this news is true, the warning bell is sounding even louder as Iran just delivered bombs with EMPs to Hezbollah. They can be attached to drones to hit deep into Israel. They are capable of eliminating electrical infrastructure and systems for communication and defense. Small EMPs are one type of non-nuclear high altitude weapon. Besides Iran, Russia, China and the US have high power microwave bombs or HMPs.There are also High-Altitude EMPs (HEMP) that are nuclear.

   

  This type of technology may be used in the coming war. How Israel will respond is not being revealed.

   

  But Israel, like Middle East analysts, are expecting a bigger clash with Iran and its supporters to erupt soon in proportions echoing the Ezekiel 38 war. Even rabbis are alert. Looming over them in the days ahead is the 9th of Av, Israel's historic day of doom.

   

  The 9th of Av is a day of the month but it references a season of distress in Israel's history that falls between the month of Tammuz and the month of Av, literally the 17th of Tammuz to the 9th of Av. It is a time of fasting and mourning for many in Israel. The solar Gregorian calendar differs from the Hebrew lunar calendar so depending on the year, this Hebrew season may fall anywhere from June to August. In 2024 the 9th of Av is August 12th-13th sunset to sunset on the Gregorian calendar. 

   

  A series of tragic events occurred on the 9th of Av or near it. In Hebrew it is called Tisha B’Av. 

  • The Ten spies came back with a bad report (Numbers 13).
  • The First Temple was destroyed 9th of Av (2Kings 25).
  • Second Temple destroyed 9th of Av, 70AD.
  • Bar Kochba revolt ended in which almost a million Jews were killed on the 9th of Av. Temple ruins and Jewish leaders were plowed over one year later on same day.
  • Jews were expelled from England and France on the 9th of Av. They were expelled from Spain on the 7th of Av.
  • WWI began with Germany declaring war on Russia on the 9th-10th of Av and Jews were increasingly suspected and blamed for working with the enemy on the German side and the Russian. This resulted in Jews being banished, killed and hated, setting up the opinions toward them for WWII's Holocaust.
  • The Nazi's Final Solution concerning the Jews was introduced on the 9th of Av in 1941. One year later, again on the 9th of Av, the deportation of Jews from Warsaw to the death camps began.

   

  So Israel has a reason to believe its enemies follow a pattern. Will it happen this way again? No one knows but  all the threats have Israelis bracing for the worst.

   

  This isn't very good news is it? The best good news, no matter what the circumstances, is that there is hope, life and victory in Jesus. We are living in the days where we can see God moving on the world's stage and in the hearts of men.

   

  We are the generation who has seen the rebirth of Israel and its ongoing prophetic fulfillments. We may be the generation who sees God act in a way in which God will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they will know that He is the LORD (Ezekiel 38:23).

   

  All this points to Jesus' return one day. I know there are scoffers, and those who chose to interpret the Bible their way. But His Word will stand true forever. Recently I saw a meme that said Noah was called a conspiracy theorist until the flood came and drowned the fact checkers. I didn't smile for long though.
